Concannon Petite Sirah - I Like You
September 2, 2010
"The Wine Idiot"
Let's get something straight right off the bat: If you're looking for educated opinions on wine, I'm NOT your guy. I never even drank wine until just a few years ago. But if you hang around with Bill Sinks and Fell Merwin long enough...you're going to imbibe some premium grape juice.
So that's where I start. I'm no wine genius (hence my title of "The Wine Idiot") and many of you that I talk to are just like me. You know a good wine when you taste it, but shopping for wine makes your eyes glaze over. All those labels, "varietals," vintages (that's the year produced), and brands.
I thought to myself, "why can't I just get someone to TELL ME what to buy and drink? That's where I come in...I'm just going to pass along the great advice I get from the experts. Even better, I really don't like buying expensive wine. Most everything I drink is $15.99 or less. Yeah, I'm cheap. But so are most people! And if you can get a great bottle of wine for $9.99, well...VICTORY.
My first recommendation is Concannon's Petite Sirah. No matter the vintage, I've always enjoyed it...psssst...and it's $9.99 a bottle. VICTORY. For those of you who want more information...Concannon consistently turns out exceptional wines. The Petite Sirah is no exception. It's an intense wine with "vibrant berry fruits and a rich, full palate." I think you could say that about almost any wine I enjoy.
Anyway, just try it...you'll like it. Trust the Wine Idiot on this one.
