Thanksgiving Wine Recommendations
November 18, 2013
Wine for Thanksgiving dinner - that’s the hot topic at the store right now. Here are four recommendations that your guests will enjoy and at prices you will love.
This is a medium-bodied red wine from the south of France. It is earthy with aromas of berries. This one is oh-so-good with almost any food.
Schmitt Sohne Relax Riesling
This refreshing, German riesling is slightly dry with intense flavors of apples, peaches and a hint of citrus. This popular wine will enhance any dish.
Kenwood Russian River Pinot Noir
A hot seller this year and an excellent selection. The red wine is rich but smooth and tastes of berries, nutmeg and lavender. Note its delicate fruit floral aroma and its lasting finish.
Chateau Set Michelle Riesling
This one is from Columbia Valley Washington and accounts for 82% of all domestic rieslings sold in the US. It’s fresh, crisp, medium sweet with ripe peach and pear taste. This somewhat dry white goes with all kinds of food; the winemaker call it their “any day” wine.
These four reasonably-priced wines are sure to please a broad range of Thanksgiving guests. We recommend serving the two rieslings chilled and the two reds at room temp or very slightly chilled.
