Winning Drinks for Your Super Bowl Party

January 23, 2015

The Super Bowl is only a week away and Americans everywhere are making plans for their celebration of this unofficial American holiday punctuated by indulgence of food and drink.

We've pulled out two of our favorite cocktails - one for each team in the "Big Game" - to help you celebrate!

New England Patriots: The World's Best Bloody Mary

Why the Bloody Mary? What better adult beverage for the New England Patriots whose fans have seen their team's reputation bloodied once again? Between Tom Brady's "Deflate-Gate" in which he has denied involvement in deflating footballs during the AFC Championship to Bill Belichick's notorious involvement in "Spygate" and other alleged mis-deeds, it seems the Patriots can't win a game without cheating.

So enjoy, Patriots fans; this reputation hangover is going to be around for a long, long time to come.

The World's Best Bloody Mary

  • 2 parts Zing Zang
  • 1 part Clamato
  • 1 part tomato juice
  • One lime
  • Vodka (to taste)

For a party, I usually dump an entire bottle of Zing Zang into a pitcher (4 cups), followed by 2 cups of Clamato and 2 cups of tomato juice. Cut a whole lime in half and squeeze the juice from each half into the pitcher. Cut the lime into pieces and toss into the pitcher, mixing thoroughly. At this point you can add Vodka (or Gin if you're nasty) or simply allow each party-goer to mix their own Bloody to their taste.

Seattle Seahawks: The Moscow Mule

There is no denying Marshawn Lynch when he goes into "Beast Mode." Google 'Beast Mode.' Go ahead. It's all Marshawn Lynch, who averaged 6.3 yards per carry vs. the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship game. He's hard-headed as a mule. The NFL tells him he has to participate in interviews? This is what you get, Roger Goodell.

So what better than a Moscow Mule? It's refreshing, crisp and...yeah.

The Moscow Mule

  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 4 to 6 ounces ginger beer

Cut a slice of lime, squeeze the juice into a high-ball glass (or Moscow Mule Mug) over 4-6 ice cubes and drop the lime in the glass. Add two ounces of vodka followed by 4-6 ounces of ginger beer and you've got a tasty, refreshing Moscow Mule.

Here's to a great Super Bowl!
